Imagine LA is dedicated to ending the cycle of family poverty and homelessness.

Founding Vision

Imagine LA was conceptualized by Rev. Dr. Mark Brewer, Senior Pastor of Bel Air Presbyterian Church, in 2005. He envisioned each of Los Angeles’ 6,500 faith communities partnering with just one of the 6,500 families experiencing homelessness at that time to leverage the faith community’s social network and support families’ journeys out of poverty. He saw something that very few others did at the time – meaningful relationships and connections could be the difference between getting stuck on your pathway out of poverty and persevering through the inevitable barriers.
